Great signs of new life for the New Year.

I’m a long time citizen of Newbury Park.

Let me tell you some history behind this pond of water. This was once a working Cattle and Horse Ranch owned by The Danielson Family.

In order to keep a ready supply of both animals , The Danielson tapped into an aquifer and pumped the water into this pond.

I remember this from over 40 years ago when I first left the San Fernando Valley to find a house I could afford in a place i had never heard of before; Newbury Park. The pond was perpetually full with a pumping system and was also stocked with fish.

The Danielson Family bequeathed this property to the State and National Park Systems when they passed away.  Since then, the pump has been turned off but when we’re blessed with strong enough rains, the aquifer spills out and fills this pond.

I tell you about this because there are sources of water, untapped, that we can use to augment the expensive water that is transported through aqueducts from far away.

I believe we might consider this God-Send when transported water sources become so expensive.
