Law enforcement agencies throughout Ventura County are receiving a heavy volume of phone calls from concerned residents regarding social media posts by people threatening to start rioting or looting in our local neighborhoods.
The Sheriff’s Office understands these social media posts increase fear and anxiety within our communities. The posts are closely monitored and investigated to determine credibility, and we are prepared to respond with sufficient resources in the event it becomes necessary.
A preferred way to report these online threats would be to use the Ventura County Crime Stoppers website, which is: www.venturacountycrimestoppers.org
The information can be reported through the website, a mobile app, or via telephone at (800)222-TIPS (8477). The information will quickly be forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement agency for follow up. We appreciate the help we have received from many local residents and social media users who have forwarded vital information to us during over the past week.
As always, please use 911 to report any immediate emergencies.
