Oxnard Police Department – Incident Press Release
On May 9, at 3:24 p.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit) responded to the area of First St. and Rose Ave. reference a call of possibly eight gun shots heard west of the intersection. The shots were heard by another Oxnard officer that was conducting traffic enforcement in the area. As the officers arrived and began checking the area, the located documented Oxnard criminal street gang member Alfonso Islas.
The officers contacted Islas reference the gun shots that were heard in the area and discovered that Islas was in possession of a semi-automatic handgun that was concealed in his pocket. Islas was charged with several firearms related violations.
