Oxnard Police Department – Incident Press Release
On 1/3/21, at about 10:17 PM, a Patrol Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motorist for a Vehicle Code violation near the intersection of Spruce and M Street. The driver, suspect Justin Villa, quickly accelerated and made several evasive turning movements before coming to a stop a couple blocks away, in the 1200 block of W. Olive Street. Villa exited the vehicle and was immediately detained by the Officer.
Officers searched Villa and located a small quantity of a controlled substance in his possession. Officers searched the surrounding area where Villa’s vehicle came to a stop and located a loaded .22 caliber handgun in the 1200 block of W. Olive Street.
Villa is a documented gang member and is a prohibited person from possessing firearms. He was arrested for various felony charges including possession of a loaded firearm, being a prohibited person, in addition to several other felony firearm related charges.
