OXNARD, Calif. – The Oxnard Wastewater Treatment Plant (OWTP) will be conducting required maintenance on the odor control system at the OWTP headworks facility building beginning February 3, 2020. The work will require a temporary shutdown of the odor control system that may take up to two (2) weeks.
Annual maintenance is required to maintain optimal performance. The City risks reducing the effectiveness or possibly suffering a complete failure of the facility’s odor control system if required maintenance is delayed.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS
While the odor control system is out of service, the City’s Wastewater Treatment operators will temporarily introduce chemicals into the incoming wastewater stream in order to reduce potential odors.
The City’s maintenance work has been coordinated with the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District (VCAPCD). During the maintenance period, the City will be in daily contact with VCAPCD to report on the project’s progress.

If residents or local businesses experience an increase in excessive odors during this time period, please contact the City’s Odor Hotline. The City will track any impacts and utilize feedback in order to better improve operations. The City’s calls will also be reported to the VCAPCD on a daily basis.

LA PLANTA DE TRATAMIENTO DE AGUAS RESIDUALES DE OXNARD CONDUCIRÁ EL MANTENIMIENTO REQUERIDO DE CONTROL DE OLORES
OXNARD, Calif. – La planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales de Oxnard (OWTP) conducirá el mantenimiento requerido en el sistema de control de olores en el edificio de la instalación de obras de OWTP a partir del 3 de febrero de 2020. El trabajo requerirá un cierre temporal del sistema de control de olores que puede tomar hasta dos (2) semanas.
Se requiere mantenimiento anual para mantener un rendimiento óptimo. La Ciudad corre el riesgo de reducir la efectividad o posiblemente sufrir una falla completa del sistema de control de olores de la instalación si se demora el mantenimiento requerido.
IMPACTOS POTENCIALES
Mientras el sistema de control de olores esté fuera de servicio, los operadores de la planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales de la Ciudad introducirán temporalmente productos químicos en la corriente de aguas residuales para reducir los olores potenciales.
El trabajo de mantenimiento de la Ciudad ha sido coordinado con el Distrito de Control de Contaminación del Aire del Condado de Ventura (VCAPCD). Durante el período de mantenimiento, la Ciudad estará en contacto diario con VCAPCD para informar sobre el progreso del proyecto.
