Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release
On June 23 at 2:49 AM, officers responded to a call of a prowler seen in the backyard of the victim’s residence in the 9900 Block of Scottsdale St. The victim awoke to their motion activated flood lamp and saw a male suspect wearing a beanie looking into their sliding glass door. The victim immediately called 911.
VPD patrol officers quickly arrived and observed the suspect after he climbed over the victim’s fence to exit the yard. The first officer tries to make contact and the suspect runs. The officer engaged in a foot pursuit and is joined by a K9 officer. The suspect, Carl Valadez, 51 years, Ventura resident, ultimately gives up peacefully and is taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was booked at Ventura County Jail for 647 (h) PC – Prowling, 647 (i) PC – Peeping, and 148 (a)(1) PC – Resisting Arrest.
No parties were injured during this incident.
