Fellow Citizens, I am Misty Perez and I’m running for Port Hueneme City Council.
.
I grew up in a small oil town of Taft California. I excelled in academics and school sports. At 17, I was living on my own; graduated high school and after completed the Peace Officer Standard Training Program. I later went on to work for a civil rights attorney. I wanted to get look at both side of the coin when dealing with Law Enforcement and public service. My family relocated to Silverstrand Beach, Oxnard, California
.
I continued school, while working a full-time job and raising my three children. I completed the Paralegal Program and have worked in multiple fields of law.
.
I have been in the legal field over 17 years. Working at various firms has given me extensive experience and has helped enhance my leadership skills. I enjoy problem solving and coming to solutions that satisfy all parties involved. I analyze complex legal issues and prepare legal drafts such as complaints, subpoenas, interrogatories, pretrial orders and legal briefs. I pay close attention to detail and research case law and legal articles. I enjoy communicating with lawyers on both sides, clients, witnesses, experts and court personnel. I love working with multiple groups of people to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome.
.
I eventually moved to the City of Port Hueneme. I love my adopted City and have called it home for the past 6 years.
.
First and foremost, I see the importance in getting to know people at a personal level. We need to invest in small businesses; We need to increase our community outreach and we need to take care of those who suffer from mental health and drug addiction. I ask for your vote! I’m ready to get to work!
