SACRAMENTO – Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) released the following statement in response to Governor Newsom’s plan to modify the state’s stay-at-home order.
Leader Grove along with Republican Senator Patricia Bates (Laguna Niguel), Senator Ling Ling Chang (Diamond Bar), and Senator John M.W. Moorlach (Costa Mesa) signed a letter which was recently delivered to Governor Newsom. In that letter, Leader Grove and the other Republican Senators urge the governor to prioritize the economy as the next phase of the COVID-19 response. Media can read the letter here.
“California is the 5th largest economy in the world and must simultaneously work to protect public health and develop strategies to reopen the economy. We cannot simply ignore the economic struggles of our families, job creators, workers and independent contractors who are suffering.
“California businesses and families deserve a detailed plan on how the state will deal with the economic fallout of this crisis. We are in this together and our state must multitask to ensure our residents remain safe and the Golden State can be open for business once again,” said Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove.
