On 6/12/21 at approximately 6:00pm officers responded to the 500 block of Surfside Dr. near Port Hueneme Beach after receiving numerous calls of a traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers located the two involved vehicles. Their investigation revealed that a black Toyota Prius was driving on Surfside Drive and collided into a van that was parked on the curb line of Surfside Drive and the Pruis was located about 100 yards from the collision location.

The two occupants of the parked van were determined to be a 6-year-old male and his 52-year-old grandfather. Both sustained injuries and were treated by EMS crews and taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Prius was identified at the scene as 27-year-old DAISY GONZALEZ of Thousand Oaks. She was transported by ambulance to VCMC and later arrested for suspicion of felony DUI. Records revealed she had been driving on a suspended driver’s license with prior DUI convictions and had been on current DMV probation for DUI.
