Port Hueneme Police Department – Incident Press Release
On Friday, December 4th, 2020, at approximately 10:20 PM, Officers from the Port Hueneme Police Department were notified of a traffic collision that occurred in the area of Ventura Road south of Channel Islands Blvd. Officers from the Oxnard Police Department were already on scene as initial reports indicated the collision occurred in the City of Oxnard. After further investigation, it was determined the traffic collision occurred in the City of Port Hueneme.
The traffic collision involved a vehicle and a pedestrian (adult Male) who was attempting to cross Ventura Road. The pedestrian crossed westbound Ventura Road making it through northbound traffic went over the center median and was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound Ventura Road from Channel Islands Blvd.
The pedestrian was transported to VCMC with critical injuries and later died at the hospital. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the crash.
