Santa Paula Police Department – Incident Press Release
On Saturday January 16, 2021 at approximately 12:46am the Santa Paula Police Department Special Enforcement Unit was conducting surveillance in the 500 block of Acacia Road attempting to locate a suspect involved in an assault with a deadly weapon incident which had occurred earlier in the City of Ventura. While conducting surveillance of the suspect, later identified as Gilbert Alba age 24 of Santa Paula, Alba became involved in a verbal dispute with a neighbor. During the verbal dispute Alba produced a rifle and fired two rounds, including one at the victim. Officers immediately intervened and Alba was taken into custody without incident. No one was injured during the incident. Further investigation revealed the suspect also possessed a sawed off rifle. Alba was transported to Santa Paula Police Department for processing and later to Ventura County Main Jail for the following charges: 245(a)(1)PC Assault With Deadly Weapon, 246.3(a)PC Discharge of Firearm with Gross Negligence, 33215PC Possession of Sawed off Weapon, 25800(a)PC Armed with Intent to Commit a Felony, 594(a)PC Felony Vandalism.
