    Santa Paula | Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested

    On Friday January 1st, 2021 at approximately 2:55am, two SPPD officers were on patrol in the 200 block of S 10th St when they were flagged down by a female subject. The female, later identified as the victim, reported to officers that her boyfriend, identified as Henry Perez age 39 of Santa Paula, had held her captive inside her residence for over three hours. The victim reported during the altercation Perez threatened to kill her numerous times.

    The victim reported to officers that she had managed to escape the residence with a juvenile however Perez was still at her residence with another juvenile. SPPD Patrol officers and Special Enforcement Unit officers responded to the victim’s residence.

    Upon arrival, an officer observed Perez exit the residence with the juvenile. Officers contacted Perez who was non complaint with officer’s commands. After a brief period an officer was able to rescue the juvenile and Perez was taken into custody without further incident.

    Detectives from the SPPD Investigations Unit responded to assist with the investigation. The victim was transported to Ventura County Medical Center and later released. During the investigation it was learned that Perez had battered the victim and sexual assault her. Perez had also choked the victim and made numerous threats he was going to kill the victim. Perez also took the victim’s cell phone to prevent her from calling police.

    Perez was ultimate arrested for 664/187(a) PC; Attempted Murder, 262(a)(1) PC; Rape, 422 PC; Criminal Threats, 272a(a) PC; Child Cruelty, 273.5(a) PC; Domestic Battery, 207 PC Kidnapping, 148(a)(1) PC; Resisting, Delaying or Obstructing a Police Officer and 591.5 PC; Taking a Wireless Device to Prevent Summoning of Help. Perez was transported and booked into the Ventura County Main Jail for lodging.
