Report #: 21-81880
Narrative:
The Ventura Police Department has had numerous calls reference threats to schools that stemmed from social media posts that originated from Oxnard. The Oxnard Police Department made three arrests in those incidents.
The social media posts have been recirculated to indicate threats to Ventura Unified Schools. School Resource Officers and detectives have been following up on these incidents since Friday.
The investigations have led to no credible threats based on the social media posts to Ventura Unified Schools.
However, unrelated to the social media posts a concerned parent called reference a student at Balboa Middle School who has recently been talking about being involved in a school threat.
Detectives immediately responded to the threat, corroborated the information, and contacted the student at his residence. He was subsequently arrested for criminal threats to a school.
The Ventura Police Department and the Ventura Unified School District want to remind the community that these threats are taken seriously, and the safety and security of our school children are paramount.
