    Simi Valley | Fiery Traffic Collision Results in DUI Arrest

    On May 26, 2020 at 8:30 PM, Simi Valley Police units responded to a report of a traffic accident and fire in the 1500 Block of Patricia Ave.

    Upon arrival, Officers located several damaged vehicles one of which was fully engulfed in flames. The SVPD Traffic unit assumed the investigation and was able to determine that the suspect, later identified as Edgardo Lopez 21 YOA, had been travelling westbound on Patricia Ave when he veered off the roadway and into a parked vehicle. As he continued westbound he struck a second parked vehicle at which time his car became disabled and caught fire. Lopez was able to remove himself from the burning vehicle and was ultimately transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

    Officers also determined that Lopez was operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol or narcotics and he was placed under arrest for DUI. After being treated for his minor injuries, Lopez was booked at Ventura County Jail.
