Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release
On June 1, 2020, a representative of the Simi Valley High School’s Associated Student Body (ASB) contacted the Simi Valley Police Department to report fraudulent activity on the ASB’s financial account. It was discovered that in early to mid-May this year, an unidentified suspect(s) unlawfully accessed the account and stole nearly $7000.00 from the ASB account.
The Simi Valley Police Departments Property Crimes Detective Unit conducted a four-month long investigation in an effort to identify the suspect(s). Through several investigative techniques, the suspect who unlawfully accessed the ASB account was identified as 29-year-old Jake Garcia from West Hills, California. A search warrant was conducted at his residence and numerous items associated with identity theft were recovered.

This suspect was identified as 39-year-old Tyla Sorrentino of Woodland Hills, California. Further investigative efforts resulted in a search warrant being executed at Sorrentino’s residence. This search warrant resulted in the recovery of hundreds of items of evidence related to identity theft and Employment Development Department (E.D.D.) fraud.
As a result of this in-depth investigation, a total of three suspects were arrested, two unregistered “Ghost” guns were recovered, over $30,000 dollars in suspected fraudulently obtained cash, and two stolen cars were recovered.
