The Ventura County Crime Stoppers is partnering with the Simi Valley Police Department to host a “Free Community Shred Event” on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Simi Valley Police Station located at 3901 Alamo Street, Simi Valley.
Attendees may bring up to five standard-sized boxes of confidential documents for shredding, such as old financial statements, canceled checks, and credit card offers (no paper clips or staples).
One way to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of identity theft is the proper disposal of sensitive documents. Identity Theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the United States today. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) estimates that as many as 9 million Americans have had their identities stolen each year.
