Simi Valley | Suspect arrested for DUI and child endangerment

Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release

In the evening of 8/31/19, Simi Valley Police Department received a report of a female, possibly under the influence of alcohol, involved in a traffic collision with a child in the vehicle in the 6400 block of Hazel Circle.

Concerned citizens attempted to get the child out the vehicle, but the female drove away with the child and was involved in another traffic collision. SVPD Officers arrived in the area, located the vehicle, and conducted an enforcement stop. The female, Karen Haynes (34 years old), was found to be driving while under the influence. Haynes was arrested and booked at Ventura County Main Jail for DUI, felony child endangerment, and battery on a peace officer for spitting on an officer on scene. The one year old child was taken into protective custody and released to CPS.

SVPD would like to remind citizens of the dangers of driving while under the influence and we will continue to strictly enforce DUI laws, especially when it involves the endangerment of a child.
