Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release
On October 19 2019, at approximately 12:49 AM, Simi Valley Police Officers were dispatched to Chakra Organics, which is located at 4210 Los Angeles Ave, in reference to a suspicious incident.
The reporting party advised that they were watching a male subject smash the windows of the business with a metal object. The reporting party also advised that the subject was associated to a gray vehicle and that he had been at the location damaging property for over 15 minutes. Upon arrival, Officers did not locate the suspect but did discovered extensive damage to the businesses interior and exterior. While investigating the incident it was learned that on 10/14/2019 the business owners had reported another vandalism to the business by an ex-employee identified as Shawn Robert Lawrence, 40 years of age.
Lawrence matched the description of tonight’s vandalism suspect and was known to drive a gray SUV. While leaving the location enroute to Lawrence’s last known address, SVPD Officers observed him driving W/B on Los Angeles Ave. Officers attempted to stop Lawrence but he refused to pull over, at which point a pursuit was initiated. Lawrence was pursued out of Simi Valley and into the City of Thousand Oaks where he eventually yielded on the campus of CLU, and was taken into custody without further incident. Lawrence was booked at Ventura County Jail for Felony Vandalism, Burglary and Evading a Peace Officer in a Vehicle.
