Southeast Ventura County YMCA Is Offering Free Online Exercise And Enrichment Classes

Thousand Oaks, Calif.—The Southeast Ventura County YMCA, with branches in Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Simi Valley, is now offering free, live online youth, family and adult exercise and enrichment classes. No YMCA membership is required.

“We launched these online programs in response to the COVID-19 stay-at-home directives,” says Ronnie Stone, YMCA president and CEO. “It’s times like these that highlight all that the Y stands for: building relationships, impacting lives and strengthening our community. It’s how we can do our part while our facilities are closed.”

Daily online classes are posted on www.sevymca.org/onlineclasses. Classes can be accessed through Zoom. They include yoga, dance/Zumba, boot camp, circuit training, total body conditioning, kid fit exercises, senior strength and balance, modern dance, teen acting and hip hop dance lessons for kids. YMCA instructors are currently creating virtual activities for families to participate in at home.

“There is something for everyone to keep healthy and connected through this unprecedented time,” says Stone.

The YMCA is asking its members to maintain their membership. “We’re hoping our members will continue to support the Y as we provide services to the community,” says Stone. “Membership dues are now considered tax-deductible donations.” The Y has created a campaign, #StayWithUs, that enables members to add supportive messages to their Facebook profile photo. Direct tax-deductible donations can be made by going here or by contacting Megan Glynn at [email protected]
