Detectives with the East County/Thousand Oaks Investigations, Major Crimes Unit concluded a two-week stalking investigation leading to the arrest of the suspect.
On 07/05/2021, a female victim made a report that her ex-boyfriend, (S) Derrick Toole, had been stalking her since their breakup at the end of June 2021. Following their break-up, Toole made numerous phone calls, text messages, and emails to the victim. Toole also was seen walking around the victim’s yard and residence without the victim’s knowledge or permission. Toole sent several threatening text messages to the victim and was tracking the victim’s whereabouts via a GPS tracking device that was placed on the victim’s vehicle.

Toole was also served a restraining order preventing him from further contacting the victim. Toole was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for violations of PC 646.9 – Stalking and PC 637.7 – Electronic Tracking Device. He was subsequently released on his own recognizance.
