Camarillo, Calif. — Studio Channel Islands Art Center (SCIART) recently announced Daniel Bednar has joined its board of directors. Bednar is vice president, enterprise project management, at CBC Federal Credit Union Ventura County.
“We are delighted to have Daniel join the SCIART board of directors and welcome his strengths in financial oversight and project management, as well as appreciate his service to our country,” said incoming SCIART Board President Georgianna Regnier. “We look forward to his input and ideas on how SCIART can continue to expand its programs and events to meet its mission: to bring together artists and community for extraordinary artistic encounters that enrich, educate and entertain.”
After spending a decade as an Intelligenc
e Officer in the United States Navy, Bednar joined CBC Federal Credit Union in 2017 to lead the development and implementation of the project management office. In less than 18 months, he successfully planned and executed 10 major cross-functional projects. A few notable projects include a revamping of CBC’s checking account structure, a conversion of its card processing core, EMV chip card conversion and a branch renovation in partnership with Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant.
A Ventura County native, Bednar attended Oxnard’s Rio Mesa High School and, upon graduating, was recruited to play football for the U.S. Naval Academy where he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science. As a commissioned officer in the U.S Navy, he served as leader of a division of 42 sailors on the USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD 8), a sea deployment around South America, a year land deployment to Afghanistan and as the senior project lead for a highly sensitive program at the Office of Naval Intelligence in Washington D.C., coordinating national level intelligence missions across the Department of Defense, Defense Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency and Central Intelligence Agency.
Bednar also holds a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College and an MBA from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.
