CAMARILLO, CA – Studio Channel Islands Arts Center (SCIART), a non-profit dedicated to bringing together art, artists and community, will celebrate its 2020 Collector’s Choice preview exhibition, juried by renowned artist Katherine Chang Liu with an opening reception, 4 to 6 p.m., March 7, in SCIART’s Blackboard Gallery, 2222 E. Ventura Blvd., Camarillo. The 2020 Collector’s Choice exhibition presents a wide range of 2D/3D artistic styles and mediums including photography, painting, sculpture, fiber and assemblage works by nationally exhibited and award-winning artists, as well as several exciting emerging artists. The opening is free to attend.
The exhibit concludes on March 28 with SCIART’s unique interactive fundraiser, from 6 to 9 p.m., which includes hors d’oeuvres and beverages, and an entertaining event that guarantees each ticket-holder the opportunity to select and take home one of the original artworks right off the gallery wall.

All proceeds from Collector’s Choice event go to support Studio Channel Islands Art Center in delivering its art education programs in the schools and the community, as well as programs focused on helping with dementia and stroke patients.
“Collector’s Choice is my favorite event in the year,” said Peter Tyas, SCIART executive director. “The event is styled around traditional game-shows, with an entertaining host, audience interaction and games. The event is supported by our amazing artist members who donate beautiful work each year and by artists from around the world who support our mission to bring the arts into schools and communities.”
Juror and artist Liu grew up in Taiwan and received her Master of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley. A recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts and the Virginia Commission of Arts and Humanities. Liu has had 43 solo exhibitions at U.S. galleries and community museums in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Santa Fe, NM, as well as galleries in Copenhagen (Denmark), Lyon (France), Rome (Italy), Turku (Finland), Hong Kong and Taiwan. She has served as juror or co-juror for over 86 national, regional and state-wide art competitions, exhibited in over 100 invitational exhibits and her work is in more than 1,100 public, corporate and private collections.
Studio Channel Islands Art Center (SCIART) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to a bringing together artists and community for extraordinary artistic encounters that enrich, educate, and entertain.
