    Narrative:

    During the months of September and October, five separate thefts were reported by Home Depot locations in the cities of Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, and Simi Valley. Carlos Peneleu was identified as the suspect in all five thefts, stealing thousands of dollars in name brand power tools.

    On 10/13/21, Peneleu entered the Camarillo Home Depot and attempted to steal more power tools. Peneleu was confronted by a store employee prior to running out of the store. Peneleu used physical force to push past the employee in order to flee the scene. Employees recognized Peneleu from the prior thefts and obtained the license plate of the vehicle he was driving. Peneleu fled the Home Depot parking lot in a vehicle that was confirmed stolen out of Inglewood, CA.

    Deputies assigned to the Thousand Oaks Police Department found Peneleu driving southbound on Highway 101. Peneleu yielded to an enforcement stop on the freeway where he was arrested for multiple grand thefts and a stolen vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located additional power tools suspected of being stolen from the Home Depot branch in Goleta, CA.

    Peneleu was transported to the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura where he was booked for numerous felony counts of grand theft and misdemeanor counts of shoplifting. Peneleu remains in custody with a bail was set at $200,000.
