Ventura County Sheriff Department – Incident Press Release
On 08 12-2019, patrol deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to 2745 Teller Road in reference to an armed robbery at the location. Deputies learned the male suspect brandished a weapon at employees before walking away with property he stole from the store.
Witnesses at the location provided responding deputies with a description of the suspect and suspect’s vehicle information. Deputies on scene reviewed video surveillance from the location and quickly identified the suspect as 31 year old Simi Valley resident, Antonio Alex Cardenas-Cespedes.
On 08/13/2019, East County Major Crimes detectives investigated the case further and determined Cardenas-Cespedes was in the custody of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Lost Hills Station on misdemeanor charges, which were unrelated to the robbery that occurred in Thousand Oaks.
Detectives responded to the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station. When Cardenas-Cespedes was released from their custody, he was subsequently arrested by members of the Thousand Oaks Police Department’s Directed Enforcement Unit for PC 211-Robbery. Detectives searched Cardenas-Cespedes’ vehicle and located additional evidence related to the robbery.
Cardenas-Cespedes was booked at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s Pre-Trial Detention Facility for PC 211- Robbery. Cardenas remains in custody, with his bail is set at $125,000.
