    Upcoming Art Classes at the Santa Paula Art Museum

    SANTA PAULA, CA – The Santa Paula Art Museum is excited to kick off the spring season with two colorful and fun art classes for adults age 16 and over! First up is “Monotypes Using Gelatin Plates (Ages 16+)” taught by Ojai printmaker Gail Hercher. The two-part class will be held Saturday March 23, 2019, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, and Sunday, March 24, 2019, from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. Used by seasoned artists yet easy enough for the beginner to do at home, monotypes using gelatin plates is a fast, fun, color-filled experience in printmaking. Students will learn how to make their own gelatin plate, how to use a variety of tools to create expressive and spontaneous imagery, and how to employ water-based inks to generate multiple prints to take home. This class is for everyone age 16 and over. All skill levels are welcome, and all supplies are provided. The cost of this class is $85.00 per person, which includes both sessions. Pre-registration is required.

    In April, artist Kasia Lisowska will share the rich colors, intricate patterns, and traditional techniques of Ukrainian egg decorating. This two-part “Ukrainian Egg Decorating (Ages 16+)” class will be taught Friday, April 12, 2019, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, and Saturday, April 13, 2019, from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Students will learn the basics of tools and techniques on day one, and then immerse themselves in practice on day two. This class is for everyone age 16 and over. All skill levels are welcome, and all supplies are provided. The cost of this class is $80.00 per person, which includes both sessions. Pre-registration is required.

    The Santa Paula Art Museum occupies two historic buildings located at 117 N 10th Street and 123 N 10th Street in downtown Santa Paula. The Museum features rotating exhibitions of vintage and contemporary art, creative classes for children and adults, family-friendly events, live musical performances, a gift shop, and more. Regular museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Regular admission is $4.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors, and free for students and museum members.     Description of event: Join us for Free Family Day at the Santa Paula Art Museum on the first Sunday of every month from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. In addition to enjoying the Museum’s current exhibitions, you’ll experience hands-on art activities for the whole family and local artists sharing new ideas and projects each month. Be creative, have fun, and make a masterpiece while you make memories with friends and family. Admission is free for everyone.
