Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
Detectives arrested a Woodland Hills man for attempted kidnapping Friday after he was identified as the suspect in an attack on a teenage girl that occurred Thursday afternoon in Oak Park.
Investigators located Edgar Ruelas at the Torrey Pines State Preserve in San Diego Friday afternoon, where he was arrested with the help of the San Diego Police Department. Ruelas was driving a white Nissan Rogue sport utility vehicle, which is the same vehicle he was driving when he attacked the victim on a trail near her home Thursday.
During Thursday’s attack, Ruelas grabbed the victim while she was walking on the trail. However, she was able to get away from the suspect and did not suffer any injuries. Ruelas was booked at the East County Jail in Thousand Oaks with his bail currently set at $1 million.
