    Ventua | Disabled Man’s Wheelchair Wrecked by Hit and Run Driver

    On March 14th at 10:32 PM, the Ventura Police Command Center received a 911 call of an injured subject in the roadway at the intersection of S. Garden St. and E. main St. The caller was not sure if the injured subject had been hit by a vehicle or had fallen out of their wheelchair.

    Officers, the Ventura Fire Department, and AMR arrived on scene within minutes and found a 64-year-old male lying in the crosswalk of E. Main St. with visible injuries. The Male was conscious however was complaining of pain and suffering from moderate injuries. The male was transported by AMR to VCMC where he was treated for his non-life-threatening injuries.

    During the investigation, Officers learned that the Victim was in his wheelchair and crossing E Main St in a west Crosswalk. The suspect vehicle traveling northbound made a left-hand turn from S. Garden St. and onto westbound E. Main St. and struck the victim. The suspect vehicle never stopped to render aid and fled the scene.

    The victim’s wheelchair that he needs for mobilization was destroyed in the collision. The investigation into this incident is ongoing. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to call the Ventura Police Department at 805-339-4400.
