Incident: Woman Assaulted on Bike Path

Narrative:
On 9-1-21 about 1221 hours the Ventura Police Command Center received a 911 call of a female who had been attacked while walking on the bike path near Kimball Park.
Arriving officers met the female victim who stated she was walking eastbound on the bike path that parallels highway 126 just west of Kimball Park. The suspect, who was riding a bicycle, was travelling westbound and passed the victim. Once he passed the victim he turned around and randomly attacked the victim. The victim was successful in fending off the attack and was not seriously injured.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 20’s short, medium build, with short dark hair, and a thin mustache riding an unknown type of bicycle.
At this time no arrests have been made. Attached is a photograph of a person of interest who was near the crime that needs to be interviewed by detectives. Anyone with information about this individual or who witnessed this crime should contact Major Crimes Detective Nunez at (805) 339-4328.
Residents are urged to take appropriate precautions when walking in these areas and in the event of a similar incident to contact the Ventura Police Department immediately.
