Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release
On November 1 at 2:44AM a Ventura police officer was patrolling in the area of Prospect St. and Olive St. and observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign. The officer attempted a traffic stop at Olive St. and West Center St. however, the driver did not stop. A vehicle pursuit was initiated and traveled for about ½ mile through residential streets with speeds reaching 35mph. The driver committed multiple vehicle code violations before stopping in at E. Prospect St. and Ventura Ave. where patrol officers took the driver and a passenger into custody without incident.
The driver, Erick Hernandez, was arrested for felony evading and driving under the influence of alcohol. The passenger, Santiago Gomez, was arrested for felon in possession of ammunition. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
