Ventura | Juvenile rescued in Harbor Cove

Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release

On 3/17/2021 at 8:10 PM patrol units were dispatched to the area of Harbor Cove at the west end of Spinnaker Drive regarding a possible drowning victim, stuck in the rocks of the jetty. Responding officers located the victim in distress, but still conscious. Due to the sharp rocks and the steep topography of the jetty, the victim was unable to get out of the water. Officers quickly formulated a plan and were able to safely remove the victim up over the rocks and out of the water.

Officers learned the victim was fishing off the edge of the jetty when he lost his footing and fell into the ocean. Members of the victim’s group attempted to rescue him but were unsuccessful and called 9-1-1. Ventura Fire and AMR treated the victim on-scene for minor injuries.
