On November 24th at 9:30 AM, FCC received a 911 call stating a possible male body was floating in the water just south of Surfers Knoll in the city of Ventura. Units arrived on scene shortly after and discovered a middle aged male subject just inside the Santa Clara river mouth floating in the water. Two rescue swimmers were deployed from Ventura City Fire Department. The male subject was extricated from the water and pronounced deceased by Ventura City Fire Paramedics. The male subject appeared to have been in the water for an extended period of time. No injuries were reported at the time of this release.
Ventura City Fire Department would like to remind everyone to be cautious around all waterways and jetties. Fast moving water and high surf can sweep you off your feet and into the water.
The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory in effect from 1 pm Monday to 7am PST Tuesday for Ventura County beaches.
