Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release
On February 28th at 9:06 PM, the Ventura Police Command Center received a call of a subject kicking and going into unlocked vehicles in the parking lot. As officers arrived on-scene, they located Alec Pedroza 09-02-1993 near the Chick-fil-A. When the officers attempted to contact Pedroza he took off running at a full sprint towards the Burlington Coat Factory. The officers followed Pedroza and eventually caught up to him and gave him orders to sit down.
Pedroza initially complied with the officers but shortly into the contact he jumped up and challenged the officers to fight. While pedroza was challenging the officers to fight him he took off in a full sprint towards a crowd that had gathered. For the safety of the citizens, Pedroza, and the officers pedroza was taken to the ground by officers and placed under arrest. No officers or Pedroza were injured during the incident. Pedroza was arrested for the misdemeanor crime of resisting and delaying officers.
According to the Ventura County Superior Court records, Pedroza was arrested twice in 2016, once for recklessly causing a fire and once for criminal threats.
