Oxnard, CA – Mix things up in Oxnard! Visit Oxnard is participating in U.S. Travel’s National Plan for Vacation Day on January 28 by offering a prize package for one lucky winner!

The eligible winner will be selected through Instagram at @visitoxnardca. Individuals are required to follow the Instagram accounts of all the package contributors and tag at least 2 friends in the comments, with the option to tag additional friends for additional entries. National Plan for Vacation Day is celebrated the last Tuesday in January and serves as a day to encourage Americans to plan their vacation days for the whole year, at the start of the year and to inspire them to use those days to travel the USA. Every year more than half of Americans (55%) fail to use all their time off. In 2018 alone, this trend resulted in a stockpile of 768 million unused vacation days in which 236 million were forfeited completely. “National Plan for Vacation Day is designed as a perfect reminder for Americans to plan to use those well-earned days off to explore America,” stated Roger Dow, President and CEO, U.S. Travel Association. “Before you know it, life happens and people find themselves in November with weeks left to use and simply not enough time left in the year to schedule time off,” continued Dow. “America offers something for everyone, whether one prefers a sunny day at the beach or a snowball fight in the mountains. The most effective remedy for American workers who want to use more vacation days is better planning. Yet just over half (54%) of households set aside time to plan the use of their vacation time each year.
Research shows that planners have a distinct advantage over non-planners: They use more of their time, take longer vacations, and are happier.
- 56 percent of planners took all their vacation time vs. 36 percent of non-planners.
- Planners are more likely than non-planners to travel during their vacation days (76% to 50%).Those who plan recognize the benefits of traveling with some of the top reasons which include relaxing/reducing stress (21%), having fun (19%), and making memories (17%).
Research has also indicated that using vacation days to travel could improve the U.S. economy, create American jobs, and have a positive impact on health and overall well-being. In fact, if Americans used all their time off to travel, the economy could see a boost of $151.5 billion in travel spending with an additional 2 million US. Jobs.
