Peter Dixon and Kat Selm of The Nature Conservancy on July 24, 2022, honored Walter Fuller for his 26 years of stewardship at Ormond Beach. Approximately 25 people met Fuller at the end of Arnold Road in Oxnard, including several local elected officials and environmental groups.Â
Angel Garcia presented Fuller with a commendation from the office of Supervisor Carmen Ramirez. Oxnard Mayor Zaragoza and council member Gabe Teran also presented Fuller with a commendation. Oxnard city council member Gabby Basua and Port Hueneme city council member Laura Hernandez were in attendance to support Fuller’s recognition.Â
Several environmental groups also honored Fuller. The Nature Conservancy gifted Fuller with several new embroidered uniform shirts. Pat Brown and Thomas King of The Saviers Road Design Team also attended and gifted Fuller with newly mended shirts and a generous gift card to Sprouts. Other environmental groups in attendance included Ventura Audubon, Friends of Ormond Beach, and VC Surfrider.
Joan Tharp, member of Friends of Ormond Beach, presented Fuller with a customized door/wall decor piece to memorialize Fuller and his 26 years of service to Ormond Beach.Â

Fuller appreciated the recognition and stated that he loves what he does and will continue to be Ormond’s steward as long as he can do so.Â
