Words and Photos by Beverly Wurts,
The rally lasted about 2 1/2 hours in the hot July sunshine.  There was about 170 in attendance. The police joined rally goers in taking pictures and enjoying support from the local community. Those rally goers were spread out over the four corners of Westlake and Thousand Oaks Boulevards. Though the organizer, Jeff Haring, insisted that those in attendance wear masks, many didn’t and were allowed to stay. There were a few detractors, one even giving rally goers the finger as he rode by on a bike. However, most of the hundreds passer-bys were supportive, even happy to see something positive. They greeted the attendees with shouts of support, car horns honking, thumbs up and waving. At the end of the event the police officers thanked those who came out on the Fourth of July for being there for law enforcement.
