Jennifer (Jenna) Leporati (DOB 03/10/73), of Thousand Oaks, was sentenced to serve 28 months in the Ventura County Jail, immediately followed by 32 months of supervised probation. She was also ordered to pay $158,443 in restitution to the Flory School Boosters in Moorpark. In November 2020, Leporati pled guilty to four felony counts of grand theft and one count of creating false evidence. She also admitted to stealing more than $100,000 and being released on bail when she created the false evidence.      Â
From February 2017 through April 2019, Leporati embezzled funds raised by the Flory School Booster Club. Volunteers hosted various events to raise money to help compensate STEM teachers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and to support the STEM program. Leporati was the treasurer of the club and had access to the funds. She admitted writing unauthorized checks to herself and others, as well as stealing cash that was raised at charity events. In September 2020, Leporati was caught submitting a falsified COVID test result she used to have her court case continued.          Â
This case was prosecuted by the District Attorney’s Office Fraud and Technology Crimes Unit. It was investigated by the Moorpark Police Department and the District Attorney’s High Tech Task Force. Â
